new trelleborg – won competition

New Trelleborg is an experience and visitor’s center for the Viking fortress of Trelleborg. The circular motif of the fortress walls are echoed in the visitor’s center floor and roof organization. Like the Viking sod houses, the new building blends in with the surrounding landscape. Visitors may walk over the sod roof of the center to gain a view of the fortress or enter into a low hall which gives way to an expansive exhibition space.
